UPDATE: CEO says AvtoVAZ to produce 30,000 Largus cars in 2024
(adds details after paragraph 3)
IZHEVSK, Dec 15 (PRIME) -- Russia’s largest carmaker AvtoVAZ plans to produce about 30,000 Lada Largus cars with gasoline and electric engines at its Izhevsk plant in 2024, CEO Maxim Sokolov told reporters on Friday.
“The amount of cars with internal combustion engines that we plan to produce is subject to approval by the board of directors, the meeting of which to take place until the end of the year. But our suggestion – around 30,000 cars with both internal combustion engines and electric engines,” he said, when asked about the plans for Largus production in 2024.
The amount of electric Largus cars production would depend on the state support measures and on whether all producers of electric cars would receive state support next year or it would only be disbursed to the highly-localized productions, he said.
According to Sokolov, AvtoVAZ is considering producing electric cars Lada Niva and Vesta and is working on the prototypes.
